New Kayak Products
The new Hullaport Kayak carrier from Thule
$129
For a Thule Hullaport cradle
that will adapt to
most standard
factory installed
luggage racks.
New from Thule is the cartop cradle system that works with almost all car racks,
including any Thule or Yakima rack. It will even work on most standard factory installed SUV or minivan luggage carriers. It allows you to carry any style kayak in a semi-upright position in a j shaped padded cradle. This is a very effective way to take up less space on your rack. You can haul two or three of even the widest kayaks. The photo above shows a 36" wide Fish n Dive taking up only a small portion of the available bar space. The photo below left shows how easy it is to carry two Fish n Dives and still have room for your mountain bike or windsurfer. The cost is $89 each. (per kayak). The actual rack price is extra. Car racks sell for about $129 to $295.
It is no longer difficult to cartop 2 or 3 kayaks at once. The Hullaport
allows you to easily carry a Tandem (lime green) and a Navigator (white)
on a narrow car rack. If you have a longer Thule or Yakima bar system
you could carry 4 kayaks without stacking one on top of the other.
Also new, and in stock at the Sailing Center is a premium fishing rod hoder called the Ram Rod.
This a heavy duty, oversized tubular rod holder
that is mounted on a unique ball and socket
style base. It can be adjusted in any direction
for an almost unlimited range of motion. ....$39
The Ram Rod can be adapted to fit to the two
other popular bases made by Tite Lok and
Scotty. Check out this new rod holder, it's by
far the best one on the market right now, and it
will work on just about any type of kayak. There
are also other clever accessory attachments that
are made to work with the ball and socket system, such as mounting plates for your GPS or fish finder.
